Striped Set and Instagram Engagement

Two piece set: Star Gal Styles | Shoes: Target | Sunglasses: (Similar) |

Happy Tuesday! I caught myself almost typing "Happy Monday" but fortunately we are one weekday down already! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. It was gorgeous in NC for a majority of the weekend and it made for the perfect weather for grilling out with family. Y'all loved this outfit I posted last week! I've linked my two piece set from Star Gal Styles above that's currently on sale for $45. I'm wearing a size small for reference.

Today's post I am so excited to share because it's been the most requested post since I started blogging. I've gotten a lot of questions about my engagement on Instagram. I started blogging because my style has always been my outlet in life. When I started my blog, I primarily shared my blog through Instagram because it was already my largest platform as well as my favorite. I've been blogging for a little over 5 months and cannot even find the words to express how thankful I am that people have wanted to follow along with my content. I've gotten a lot of emails and messages about how to not only grow followers, but likes and comments as well. Instead of listing out steps of what I think a blogger or anyone that is attempting to grow their engagement on Instagram should do, I simply just want to share what I do on a day to day basis in hopes it can help everyone trying to grow their own engagement.

Every morning I post an Instagram post, I already have my Instagram photo edited and ready to upload in my drafts. I like to upload my pictures between 9-10am if I can because for me, those hours have gotten me the most engagement in the past. The picture itself, caption, and hashtags are ready to go. I usually upload an Instagram picture everyday (once in awhile, like yesterday, I won't upload if I have a lot going on). I research my hashtags. I spend time looking into what other hashtags bloggers are using. As soon as I upload my post, a majority of my likes are coming from people that don't follow me, but have found me through hashtags. A great app to utilize is: UNUM. I found this app through another blogger. You can use it to plan your posts, track the engagement of your posts, find out what your best hashtags are, etc.

I immediately share with my blogger group messages when I've uploaded a post to Instagram. If you are not in one already, I totally suggest engaging with bloggers through DM's. I'll start a DM with you! There is an incredible amount of support in the blogger community. I am currently in 6 blogger group messages and we will all engage with each others posts throughout the day. I highly recommend engaging yourself with as many bloggers as you can handle. 6 group messages can definitely get crazy over the course of a day, but I'm determined to keep up with engaging others who are making time to engage with my content. I will keep an eye out for who is liking/commenting on my post that I may not have seen before and also those who continually do it (and I'm not in a group message with). I always do my best to return engagement. Especially girls who aren't bloggers but are commenting on my posts "Hey I love your style!", I'll even message and extend a thank you for their kind words and support. Engaging with others I believe is a big piece to helping your own content do well. I'll be 100% honest, I spend a ton of time on Instagram. More so than any other app, including messaging. The more time you can find to like/comment on accounts similar to your own, I have found, the more engagement on your own account increases (at least this is true for me)!

I also do my best to make myself personable. I share when I've gotten a question repeatedly because that allows my followers to know that I'm engaging through personal questions and want to lend any advice to those who follow along with my content. I've posted quite a bit on my story recently answering repeated questions and the more I do so, the more people seem to come forward and ask questions and for advice. The bloggers I most love to follow along with always make me feel like we're BFF's through a screen. As silly as that sounds, they have marketed themselves in such a way that it doesn't feel like they are trying to sell to me at all but instead create a more girlfriend esc relationship. Style Collective (an awesome blogger community) has been a wonderful opportunity for me too. I only joined a couple of months ago, but this community of bloggers has helped me make blogger friends and interact with businesses in NC as well. SC is a brand that connects bloggers and provides great resources to create and build your own brand. SC bloggers are wonderful about interacting with each others post! I definitely suggest if you are a blogger and you're not a part of Style Collective, that you join. SC definitely narrows the hundreds of thousands of bloggers to a fantastic group of women that are so ready to support one another.

Overall, I want to tie together a few key things that have worked for me the past few months. I'm in multiple blogger group messages where I talk and engage with numerous girls daily. I spend a good amount of time planning my hashtags, as well as my caption. I want to make sure I'm creating content that's more than just "Hey here is an outfit". I want to make myself personable and relatable. My favorite blogger has a line where she wants her platform to feel like "a BFF though a blog". I hope the same for my followers and readers. I want girls to feel like I'm just another girlfriend that wants to share all the styling advice and beauty advice they can! Being personable to me means returning the comments and likes that someone went out of their way to support me with. And lastly, be prepared to spend time on Instagram. I spend a lot of time on the app during the day and for me, I have found the more time I can spend on the app interacting with bloggers like myself, girls my age, brands, etc., the more I have seen my own engagement increase. I haven't set myself out to become "Insta famous" or get to a certain number of followers. I've just really focused almost all of my time sharing my own content though Instagram because it was my largest as well as my fastest growing platform as far as numbers when I started blogging. If I could share one final thing that has worked for me, it has been the time that I have dedicated to make my Instagram account as successful as possible, so that I can share my content with as many people as I can.

I SO hope this post was helpful! Even if it was just for one girl, I will be so happy. Again, I thank you with all of my heart for supporting me and following along with my content. As always, blogging feels like a dream come true and I love that I get to share myself in my truest form with you everyday.

With love,
